Lenovo has had a very strong second quarter of 2015 with reports that they have over taken Apple to become the biggest distributor of computer desktops, notebooks and tablets. Apple has been the market leader since the third quarter of 2014 and beating them is no easy feat.
According to research done by market research company Canalys, Lenovo shipped a total of 16 million devices which equates to a market share of 16%. This value was approximately 240,000 more units than Apple. Lenovo also has a strong 30% share of the crucial Chinese market.
Compared to last year, Lenovo actually shipped less units (16 million), however they still lead the market due to an overall drop of 12% of overall shipments. The market has experienced a slowing in demand for tablet PC’s as users are less likely to have a need to upgrade these devices.
Following on from Lenovo and Apple are HP in third place, Dell in Fourth and Samsung round out the top 5.

It seems that Woolworths and Coles are moving into every consumer area possible and the insurance industry is one area which they are targeting next.
The entry of these big supermarket giants has seen a healthy drop in premiums and strong competition to the current insurance giants, IAG (Insurance Australia Group) and Suncorp. Until now, the insurance industry has been relatively static with very little competition having an effect on the market due to the fact that IAG and Suncorp control nearly 90% off the insurance market.
An investigation has discovered that home premiums around the country has dropped by about $40 since 2010 in Victoria. Car Insurance premiums has risen in the same time period however some say that this is due to competition and prices may have increased more otherwise.
Coles Insurance has indicated that they have captured around 270,000 customers which is a 10 times increase since it’s inception. Woolworths Insurance has also expanded it’s product offerings to appeal to a wider customer base.
